Why'd We Moved To Florida?
Moving yogg to Melbourne Beach, Florida.
Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher once said, “Change is the only constant in life.” I’ve never felt that to be more true than in the last couple of years.
Many in Richmond will be surprised to find that I made the decision to relocate yogg and my family to a tropical island in Florida. Although, those closest to us likely would say they could see it coming from a mile away.
Richmond has been our home. We raised 9 of our 10 kids there, built an amazing network of colleagues and friends, and enjoyed all of the amazing amenities the city has to offer. So why move when it’s been so good? It’s a great question and one that I want to shed light on for you.
My Family
Is being hippie a lifestyle choice or something that’s just engrained in your soul from birth? I’m thinking that it’s the latter more than the former. Our children, as intelligent as they may be, still refused to wear shoes, socks and generally any clothing during the summer. And winter. The move to Florida felt like an act of saving our kids from their own ding dong decisions but the honest truth is we are built for hot weather.
Agency life isn’t easy for people who work in it. That certainly goes for the owner too. It’s a career that feels like a drug you can’t do without. I have traveled more miles than I can count over the past decade speaking in front of crowds, meeting new clients and friends, living somewhat of a Jetsetter life. Every trip was exciting but the hardest part was leaving and being away. My kids that were itty bitty when I started yogg aren’t so itty bitty anymore. I ha e wanted to be closer to them while they are still at home with us. But I can’t give up the euphoric high of what we are capable of accomplishing for clients.
Florida has meant more time with my family by redefining our business model a bit. It has meant my office being walking distance from home which has come in handy on account of lunches almost every day with my kids and quick trips home when someone needs to go to the ER for stitches. More importantly it has meant my family living its best life, together.
